Namaste Dear Parents,
We are happy to keep you informed about the various events and happenings at Suchitra!! As we traverse further into the new academic year, students are busy in familiarizing themselves with the syllabus and the hard work they are expected to put in.
Here’s the fortnightly round up of the medley of activities at Suchitra. Please read on for some interesting news from the Campus….
“And remember, also, … that many places you would like to see are just off the map and many things you want to know are just out of sight or a little beyond your reach. But someday you’ll reach them all, for what you learn today, for no reason at all, will help you discover all the wonderful secrets of tomorrow.”
Our main focus in the past weeks has been to acclimatize the children to the school/class environment. Children are learning the school and classroom routines that will be in place all year along.
We understand the mix of excited anticipation and fear that you are feeling now, but be assured. Each one of us teachers is a parent. We all know the fears, the hopes, the problems, and the joys of parenting. Yet we are also Early Childhood Educators. We understand, perhaps better than most, how very important the task of educating the young child is. We want for your children a true education because we know that education is not just what a child learns from reading a book (although much can be learned from reading!) or from memorizing letters, numbers, shapes, and facts (although these are important for schooling). Education is what happens when one discovers meaningful information through experience.
Through this play, your child will grow in ability and confidence to move forward and outward to explore, discover and learn even more. For what your child learns today will help your child to discover “all the wonderful secrets of tomorrow.”
We have provided a few suggestions for assisting your child during this time. Remember we will be available to provide support and assistance, to make your child’s first school days happy days. But we need your cooperation and support too.
- Prepare your child for the school experience by explaining what to expect. Answer all questions directly and honestly.
- Convey a positive attitude. Young children are aware of your feelings. Your
- enthusiasm will assure the child that school can be a fun and exciting place.
Chocolate and chips are not suitable choices for preschool snack times. At preschool, we work on educating the children about healthy food choices, and the benefits these foods have on their growing bodies, so it is important that that their snack boxes have not just ‘their favourite things , but healthy things’ .
Please make sure all of your child’s belongings that they bring to school are labelled and also do not forget to pack an extra dress every day.
STRANGER DANGER (SKIT BY TEACHERS)
Children are innocent and hence, easily trust everyone. But in today’s time, it is mandatory to teach children to not trust a stranger. It is important to teach children that it need not be just a stranger who could be a threat to them but sometimes, it could be a known person too. While we don’t want to scare our kids, the message was passed down Friday, 6th April in a subtle way through an act by the pre-primary teaches. Through this act, we not only covered ‘Stranger Danger’ we also made the kids aware of ‘Good touch and Bad touch’

Every day we can find at least one newspaper article, Facebook post or a TV report on bullying in schools. Keeping this in mind, a special activity, SAY NO TO BULLYING was conducted on Thursday, 29th March. This activity was designed to ensure that students understand the seriousness of the term ‘Bullying’ and what devastating effects it can have on someone. The activity ended with students volunteering to start an Anti-Bullying Brigade in the school and they enthusiastically designed badges for the same.
Another special activity, WALL OF FAME, was presented by the students of Grades IX-X on Thursday, 5th April. This activity was an attempt to make the students realize how the staff in their school works to ensure that the best of everything reaches to them. They were divided into groups where they interviewed a member from the Administration, a teacher and the non-teaching staff. The success of the activity proved that the students are now aware of the hard work put in by the Suchitra team. At the same time, their testimonials spoke volumes about the values they learnt from this activity.
Grade V D participated in an activity wherein they made a model of an ecosystem like aquarium, desert and plains. Students were very enthusiastic about it and did a
The students of Grade III A presented their special assembly on the topic
“A GOOD LAUGH IS SUNSHINE IN THE HOUSE” on Tuesday, 3rd April. The core idea of the presentation was to start one’s day with laughter and spread it all over. The kids demonstrated Greeting laughter, Milk Pio Laughter and Swing laughter as the different forms of laughter yoga. The presentation ended with a laughter blast of 10 seconds.
Another special assembly was presented by the students of Grades IV-X on Thursday, 5th April. The celebration began with paying tribute to the famous poet; Gidugu Ram Murthy who relentlessly fought for the introduction of ‘Vaduka Basha’ or spoken dialect at all levels. His birth anniversary is celebrated as TELUGU LANGUAGE DAY. The presentation recalled the evolution and development of Telugu language. The students stole the limelight when they recited beautiful poems dressed as famous Telugu poets. The presentation culminated with a graceful dance performance by the students of Grade IX.
The celebration does not end here, the Hindi department has planned a two day presentation to celebrate HINDI DIWAS, highlighting the importance of Hindi language. Today, the audience, through a street play was made aware that Hindi plays a significant role in connecting the citizens of our country. Mira Bai and Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan came alive on stage when students recited their poems in their own style.
The second day presentation update which is scheduled on Monday, 9th April will follow in the next newsletter…..
