NEWS LETTER 23rd March 2018, VOL.7, ISSUE: 170

Namaste Dear Parents,

As another academic year passes by in a flurry of assignments, grades, assessments and evaluation, we are back with a breath of fresh air and once again with due commitment to our vision and goals.

Education must strive to broaden minds and push towards spiritual horizons. Our journey is an ongoing one and we strive more than ever to achieve our aims, goals and aspirations.

Here’s the fortnightly round up of activities at Suchitra. Please read on ……

A warm welcome to all, at the onset of 2018-19 school year!

It’s so great to be back and feel the excitement in the school as the children head back to another great year!

Your little ones are adjusting well to their new teachers, friends, and routine. For some children, this is the first experience away from home and parents. The transition may be difficult. We will, therefore, move slowly until all are comfortable with their new friends and surroundings.

Following directions, listening and becoming aware of those around us will be an ongoing endeavor. Our classroom games and activities are designed to enhance the children’s development in these areas. Painting, gluing and cutting will also be part of our day to day learning. You can talk with your child about the day’s activities and reinforce at home what your child has begun to learn at school. The more exposure your child has to the letters, numbers, vocabulary, and concepts we introduce at school, the more he or she will absorb and retail.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

Monday, 26th March               : Holiday Ram Navmi

Friday, 30th March                  : Holiday Good Friday

Friday, 6th April                       : Stranger Danger (Skit by teachers)

NEW ACADEMIC SESSION BEGINS

Monday, 12th March was a momentous day both for the students as well as the teachers. It was the beginning of THE NEW ACADEMIC SESSION for Grades I to VIII. The air was filled with gaiety as students entered their new classrooms with new and old classmates. The students began the day interacting with their class teacher, making new friends and enjoying many ice-breaking activities.

WORKSHOP ON NEW AGE CAREERS AND LIFE

A workshop on NEW AGE CAREERS AND LIFE was conducted for the students of Grades IX-X on Friday, 16th March. Dr Samuel  Johnson, Consultant Trainer, VIT AP-Amaravati kept the audience enthralled between 9 a.m. and 3.10 p.m. as he conducted an enriching session on career counselling and behaviour modification.  He had a grip on the students from the word go. Students are extremely difficult to please and at the same time extremely easy too. It all depends on the approach and initiation. And I must say that he knew every bit about that impact as he had them all hero worshiping him by the end of the day long session.

He made them see a mirror when he spoke about their daily life and routine. He shook them up when he talked about how they respond to authority at home and elsewhere, he touched a raw nerve when he spoke about how they sometimes tend to hurt and disappoint parents and teachers and he swayed them along as he spoke about the immense potential each one has.

He saved the best for the last when he actually showed them all about his own humble beginnings, his reaching exceptional heights, his life’s mission to make people see the immense potential each one of us has!

ASSET test was conducted for Grades III – X on 19th August, 2017. A follow up session was conducted on Saturday, 17th March by Ms Uma. This meeting highlighted the performance of the students and the remedial action to be implemented in the academic curriculum was discussed.

MATHEMATICAL MODELLING

In an attempt to understand how an abstract concept taught on the blackboard can be related to the design of a real object, students of Grade X made Mathematical models and tried explaining the correlation between what they learnt in the classroom and its

practical application in real life. They made models of skateboard floors, bridges, catapults and roller coasters and explained how they made use of polynomial equations to design graphs and then come up with the dimensions of these models.

Dear parents, once again, a very warm welcome to the new parents who have entered our fold. For some of you it might be the 1st ever newsletter but trust us it is going to drop in your mail box every alternate Friday, without fail ! Please get used to that and also to going through the round up of the activities that we send you.

Ideally I would wish it to be a two way process, where you too respond to our mails. Right now most of the time only I seem to be speaking without much response!

This could actually turn into a forum to discuss common concerns and queries.

We have already sent you a mail regarding our expectations about children’s turn out. Please do give it a serious attention as we give a lot of importance to smartly and neatly turned-out children.

We are done with processing the Feedback that you had given on 10th March ( PMI day) and will be sharing the results with you shortly. The results are as usual amazing and there is a very negligible number who have some causes for dissatisfaction. I had once read ‘if you are able to make everyone happy with your work, then there is definitely something wrong with your performance’. So the naysayers are as welcome as ‘ayes’ !  It is impossible to please everyone, but we will not give up trying !

Please feel free to communicate with me/ us.

Warm Regards

AFTER AN EXTREMELY EVENTFUL AND FASCINATING YEAR, FINALLY THE MUCH-AWAITED DAY ARRIVED ON 24th  February FOR PASSING OUT GRADE X!!

28276707_2032170060131896_1288926519807455746_nThe MASQUERADE THEMED FAREWELL FOR GRADE X was definitely one such moment. An event organized by the teachers and the students of Grade IX marked the perfect send-off and a beautiful emotional closure. The evening went past the colours of the beautiful gowns with their elaborate masks and the fitting of the blazers. The atmosphere was filled with happiness and celebration but also mixed with the sadness of saying “goodbye”. Music, dance and games were a lot of fun. Grade X wanted to capture every moment and hence, the endless “selfies” and pictures. The highlight of the event was the Mr and Ms Suchitra Contest, where our sporting Grade X participated enthusiastically.
