NEWS FROM PRE-PRIMARY
“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them stories. If you want your children to be more intelligent, read them more stories.” Albert Einstein
The week was full of Stories and Sports…the two most important elements in a child’s growth. Please read on to know about all the fun and excitement in Suchitra Pre-primary
INTRODUCTION OF THE NEW THEME ‘LEARNING THROUGH STORIES/ FANTASY LAND ’
Our new theme was introduced on Monday, 4th December. Stories provide a natural, relevant and enjoyable context for exposure to language and an opportunity to familiarize children with the sounds, rhythms and intonation of English. Children shall be exposed to various interesting stories to help them improve their language skills, instill a love of reading and stir their imagination.
Sports are great for children as they provide not just physical activity, but also help build children’s self –esteem, confidence, social skills and also motivate them to excel in life. In recognition of the importance of sports, Sports Day was celebrated on Wednesday ,13th December. The participants were well trained for the event by our team of able coaches and based on the prelims already conducted in the past week; finalists for the various races were selected. Children participated in large numbers in engaging and innovative races like 30 meters race, balloon race etc. It was exhilarating to see the tiny tots perform so well.
STORY ACT BY TEACHERS
Storytelling is the most innate and important form of communication. Keeping that in mind the teachers of pre primary got together to enact ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ on Friday, 8th December . The magical performance of the teachers left the children enthralled, excited and engaged. Apart from fostering imagination and creativity, this story had a great lesson too – ‘It’s wonderful to have friends’ and ‘Don’t talk to strangers’
STORY WEEK BY PARENTS
Story week by parents (Monday, 11th December – Friday, 15th December) was celebrated in full fervor and high spirits. Parents as well as grandparents participated and came up with the most interesting stories. Some of them even got very innovative props to deliver their stories better to the children. It was a learning and a joyous experience for not only children but for the parents as well.
Please find below names of parent who had come for story-telling. We have no words to express our gratitude-

NEWS FROM HIGH SCHOOL
‘Play your part for a better internet!’ As part of the special activity, awareness was raised on E Safety on Thursday, 30th November. The children were informed about the safer use of the internet. One of the key messages that came out of the activity was the importance of children telling an adult if they are worried or upset by anything they have seen on the internet.
Water covers 70 percent of the Earth, but only 3% of it is clean and suitable for human consumption. The students of Grade I E highlighted this fact through their special assembly presentation on the topic Water..Water Everywhere, Not a Drop to Drink on Tuesday, 5th December. It was a perfect blend of music, mime and dance- each one showcasing the importance of saving water. A brilliant presentation indeed!
Another special assembly was presented by the students of Grade IV D on Wednesday, 6th December on the topic Social Evils in Society-
Child Labour. They successfully delivered the moral through speech, videos and dance encouraging the audience to take an initiative, to raise our hands against child labour and contribute towards its eradication. Let there be books instead of tools in the little hands.
The Vice Principal, Ms Deepa Kapoor was invited to Grade I on Monday, 11th December to talk about how one should treat pets. She shared her own personal experience of how she took care of them. The children enjoyed watching musical videos; they danced and swayed along with the tune. There was a lively interaction among them.
IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!
We had the joy of meeting all the angels, shepherds, Joseph, Mother Mary and Santa Claus on Wednesday, 13th December, as Grade I enjoyed a role play on the theme Christmas Characters. The children spoke confidently about their characters and looked so vibrant in the colours of Christmas season.
On 12th -13th December, the students from PP to Grade X flocked to the soccer field to celebrate the 7th Annual Sports Days. Great team work, determination and resilience were shown throughout as the students took part in numerous races, team relays and recreational events. All the children gave their best and there were some outstanding performances from all age groups. It was lovely to see the children being competitive and determined but also showing great encouragement and sportsmanship towards each other throughout the event.

Dear Parents it is becoming increasingly difficult to ensure proper turn out of all the children and most of the time boys are with wrong hair-cuts or long hair. I have repeatedly informed that anything longer than 1.5 inches, we consider as ‘long’ and unacceptable. Yet we have to face arguments, anger and serious questioning each time you are informed that the child is ‘not going to be allowed’ in the class for the whole day if defaulting.
Please understand we cannot maintain discipline of any kind without your cooperation; be it being in time, having dirty long nails, wrong uniform or shabby long hair. Children will have to face the consequences of their action and a little mindfulness from your side will help us avoid these situations.
The year is drawing to a close and 2018 is almost upon us. The academic session too is almost 75% over. One just looks back in surprise and wonders where the time has flown!
Today the children have started their PT3 and I do hope you are assisting them in all ways.
