Namaste Dear Parents,

Another successful year draws to a close. It is amazing how much has been achieved by  the children in one year. The achievements extend from academics, to sports and creative arts and to the numerous events we had this year. We achieve so much because we work together as a team and this is one of the greatest strengths of the school.

Here’s the fortnightly round up of the medley of activities at Suchitra. Please read on for some interesting news from the Campus….

Imagination is a powerful tool in the development of a young mind because it encourages children to broaden their thinking horizon. Fantasy fosters creative thinking and keeping that in mind, we immersed our children in the imaginary world we created for them. Soaking in the fantasy fun, the tiny tots of Suchitra had a Fantasy Party on Friday, 22nd December. The party area was festooned with colourful streamers, balloons and chocolates. Children came beautifully dressed in their party gear. The fantasy party was celebrated in a grand manner. There was foot tapping music and children danced with joy and great enthusiasm. The delight was uncontained especially when they were given a yummy lavish treat.

Each fortnight by the time I conclude the news letter, I am left breathless. It seems unbelievable that so much was achieved in mere 2 weeks. Yet; that is true. And what is more, all that is achieved is done with excellence and perfection. There is no compromise on the quality of each activity or each presentation. I, myself, am left terribly impressed and hope that you all too notice the extraordinary learning and empowering that happens with the dear children in our care.

As the year comes to an end and I dispatch the last newsletter of 2017, I sincerely wish that our zeal remains the same and we continue to do much more than we are doing now.

With this fond hope I wish you all a Very Happy New Year.

Namaste Dear Parents,

Here’s the fortnightly round up of activities at Suchitra. Please read on………..

NEWS FROM PRE-PRIMARY

“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them stories. If you want your children to be more intelligent, read them more stories.”  Albert Einstein

The week was full of Stories and Sports…the two most important elements in a child’s growth. Please read on to know about all the fun and excitement in Suchitra Pre-primary

INTRODUCTION OF THE NEW THEME ‘LEARNING THROUGH STORIES/ FANTASY LAND ’

IMG_20171214_094905

Our new theme was introduced on Monday, 4th December. Stories provide a natural, relevant and enjoyable context for exposure to language and an opportunity to familiarize children with the sounds, rhythms and intonation of English. Children shall be exposed to various interesting stories to help them improve their language skills, instill a love of reading and stir their imagination.

SPORTS COMPETITION

Sports are great for children as they provide not just physical activity, but also help build children’s self –esteem, confidence, social skills and also motivate them to excel in life. In recognition of the importance of sports, Sports Day was celebrated on Wednesday ,13th December. The participants were well trained for the event by our team of able coaches and based on the prelims already conducted in the past week; finalists for the various races were selected. Children participated in large numbers in engaging and innovative races like 30 meters race, balloon race etc. It was exhilarating to see the tiny tots perform so well.

STORY ACT BY TEACHERS

pp1

Storytelling is the most innate and important form of communication. Keeping that in mind the teachers of pre primary got together to enact ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ on Friday, 8th December . The magical performance of the teachers left the children enthralled, excited and engaged.  Apart from fostering imagination and creativity, this story had a great lesson too – ‘It’s wonderful to have friends’ and ‘Don’t talk to strangers’

STORY WEEK BY PARENTS

IMG_20171214_101536.jpg

Parents as well as grandparents participated and came up with the most interesting stories. Some of them  even got very innovative props to deliver their stories better to the children. It was a  learning and a joyous experience for not only children but for the parents as well.

SPECIAL ACTIVITY

stayingsafeonline

‘Play your part for a better internet!’ As part of the special activity, awareness was raised on E Safety on Thursday, 30th November. The children were informed about the safer use of the internet. One of the key messages that came out of the activity was the importance of children telling an adult if they are worried or upset by anything they have seen on the internet.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES

Water covers 70 percent of the Earth, but only 3% of it is clean and suitable for human consumption. The students of Grade I E highlighted this fact through their special assembly presentation on the topic Water..Water Everywhere, Not a Drop to Drink on Tuesday, 5th December.  It was a perfect blend of music, mime and dance- each one showcasing the importance of saving water.  A brilliant presentation indeed!

Another special assembly was presented by the students of Grade IV D on Wednesday, 6th December on the topic Social Evils in Society-

Child Labour. They successfully delivered the moral through speech, videos and dance encouraging the audience to take an initiative, to raise our hands against child labour and contribute towards its eradication. Let there be books instead of tools in the little hands.

PET TALK

The Vice Principal, Ms Deepa Kapoor was invited to Grade I on Monday, 11th December to talk about how one should treat pets. She shared her own personal experience of how she took care of them. The children enjoyed watching musical videos; they danced and swayed along with the tune. There was a lively interaction among them.

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

christmas

We had the joy of meeting all the angels, shepherds, Joseph, Mother Mary and Santa Claus on Wednesday, 13th December, as Grade I enjoyed a role play on the theme Christmas Characters. The children spoke confidently about their characters and looked so vibrant in the colours of Christmas season.

SPORTS DAY

DSCN0149

On 12th -13th December, the students from PP to Grade X flocked to the soccer field to celebrate the 7th Annual Sports Days. Great team work, determination and resilience were shown throughout as the students took part in numerous races, team relays and recreational events.  All the children gave their best and there were some outstanding performances from all age groups. It was lovely to see the children being competitive and determined but also showing great encouragement and sportsmanship towards each other throughout the event.

28th -29th December                                           : Celebrate the magic of numbers

Dear Parents it is becoming increasingly difficult to ensure proper turn out of all the children and most of the time boys are with wrong hair-cuts or long hair. I have repeatedly informed that anything longer than 1.5 inches, we consider as ‘long’ and unacceptable. Yet we have to face arguments, anger and serious questioning each time you are informed that the child is ‘not going to be allowed’ in the class for the whole day if defaulting.

Please understand we cannot maintain discipline of any kind without your cooperation; be it being in time, having dirty long nails, wrong uniform or shabby long hair. Children will have to face the consequences of their action and a little mindfulness from your side will help us avoid these situations.

The year is drawing to a close and 2018 is almost upon us. The academic session too is almost 75% over. One just looks back in surprise and wonders where the time has flown!

Today the children have started their PT3 and I do hope you are assisting them in all ways.

Warm Regards

Renu Shorey

‘Is it possible to cook without fire?’  ‘Yes very much possible!’ says the pre primary.

The students of Jr. KG fostered their creativity by cooking without fire on Monday, 20th November. Parents had an important role to play, wherein they were asked to get all the ingredients and tools required for the preparation of the dish. Parents teamed up with their children and prepared some amazing dishes to display their culinary tastes and ideas. Children merrily followed their parents’ instructions, and developed their skills through this activity. Every parent then displayed their dishes and explained  how it was prepared. It was amazing to hear kids list out the ingredients and say the procedure of the dish they prepared. After the completion of the activity, children relished eating the delicious dishes.

They continued to have a good time and were treated to a special meal. To make the day even more special for our children the teachers danced to the tune of some energetic and fun soundtracks.

USE OF HAND SANITIZER

World Health Organization (WHO) and doctors recommend use of hand sanitizers as part of hand hygiene. With the flu season upon us, we are taking preventive actions to stop the spread of flu germs, by making hand sanitizer available in all classrooms. More so, because of the appreciation that came our way from everyone of you. Most of our compliments have come orally. It would be lovely if a few more of you could write in to us as to what you thought of the overall programme.

My hearty compliments to all of you dear parents, as you were most cooperative, be it restricting the guest list or parking issues or patiently waiting for the programme to end- It was commendable ! My heart swells with pride to be caring for children of such amazing, aware and cooperative parents. That’s really three cheers for all of you !

We have resumed regular classes and other regular activities for Grade IV to X.

December has some exciting things happening with Grade PP to Grade III and you shall hear more of that too.

We have started admissions (conditional) from PP to Grade XI and invite you to pass on the word.

Look forward to a hearty response from you. Please do write in.   Just to remind you ,

I have sent you all a mail (Grades VI  to X)  about our upcoming Australia trip in May. You are requested to think about it and send in your intent at the earliest.
