Monthly Archives: June 2017

Namaste Dear Parents,

We hope that you are enjoying the last few days of a relaxing and wonderful break. The sweltering heat has given way to beginning of monsoons and I do hope that we are blessed with good rainfall.

The countdown has begun as we are preparing to welcome our students. Making a school welcoming is much more than just decorating the hallways, it’s more about creating an environment where everyone feels the love and we at Suchitra work hard to achieve this goal.

Here is some great news we would like to share with you!!

Yellow-Star-with-Congratulation-We are happy to announce a 100% RESULT of our third CBSE batch of Grade X. They have passed with flying colours and have made the school proud of their achievement. We have 2 perfect 10s and 13 with the CGPA of 9.4 to 9.8. Heartiest congratulations to our dear students. I heartily appreciate the hard work of our students and the contribution of the teachers and wish them success in all their future endeavours.

The students of Grades IX & X were back to school on Thursday, 1st June, after what we hope was a wonderful and exciting summer break spent with family and friends. The school year is well underway with staff and students once again actively engaged in teaching and learning. We are excited about the educational challenges that lie ahead of us and know you will continue to assist us in our efforts to bring the best of learning experiences to them.

The teachers have been back in school since 1st June, after a relaxing summer break. The school is abuzz with activity. The teachers are gearing up for the upcoming session with fervor.  Classrooms are being done up; worksheets and practice sheets are being made; various professional development workshops are being conducted in the school to apprise the teachers with the latest happenings in the education field. In fact there isn’t a moment to lose as they go about their pre opening schedules.

We, at Suchitra keep teaching our students the value and importance of conserving the earth’s resources. And how better to accomplish the task than living what you teach by practically giving them lessons in water harvesting and composting.  This summer we decided to tie up with the HWSSB and Prakriti Environment Services.  Four pits have been dug around the campus in keeping with the norms required for water harvesting.  Students from Grades IX and X were given a practical demonstration of their curriculum with respect to weather, water quality, physical sciences, pollution, energy and sustainability. In May, Suchitra Academy was featured in Eenadu newspaper for their participation in the Save Water Campaign.

IMG_4924A workshop was conducted by Ms Sirisha and Ms Deepthi on Friday, 2nd June.  The goal of this session was to enable teachers to be sufficiently prepared, confident and competent in making full use of the benefits of the wonderful facilities available both inside and outside the classroom. They gave an insight on a series of ICT tools that implicitly support creative learning and innovative teaching; this has helped our teachers to improve their awareness of the potential of ICT to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.

Today’s fast-paced and team-based work environments call for strong and effective professional relationships. Keeping this need in mind Ms Trisha Chakraborty, Head of Research and Training conducted a workshop on EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE on Tuesday, 6th June. This seminar emphasized the practical application of EI concepts over theory. Taught us how to achieve greater personal awareness, connect with others, manage stress, and engage in healthy conflict and collaboration and to be better tuned to the emotional needs of the children.

Another workshop on EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION was organized on Thursday, 8th June by Ratna Sagar.DSCN3738

Mr. Rishabh Khanna, from Les Transformations, Delhi, was the resource person for the workshop. The objective of the workshop was to help our teachers realize the importance of effective communication in the teaching and learning process. The pivotal issues were discussed and relevant measures were suggested to overcome the problems. It was an enlightening session.  The workshop was interactive, activity based and highly inspiring. It also dealt with the ways to relieve stress with proper time management.

DSCN3661This workshop was conducted for mathematics teachers by Ms. Bhavani  Subramanian courtesy  Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd on 5th June,2017. The focus of the workshop was the use of stories in mathematics and problem solving. Teachers were also helped to see the role of pictures and puzzles in mathematics. It was an educative session wherein new ideas were shared to understand the basic pedagogy of math teaching. A lot of emphasis was also given to the pre and post activities to help children conceptualize mathematical ideas.

In addition, several in-house workshops were conducted.- one was on ATTITUDES

conducted by our teachers, Ms Manisha  Sah and Ms Lakshmi showcasing how important it is to work with the right attitude which gives us the motivation to do our best and also bring out the best in our students.

Yet, another on MOTIVATION IN SELF AND STUDENTS conducted by Ms Poonam and Ms Usha Das. These  were  huge successes in terms of both, the takeaway the teachers got as well as the confidence with which our teachers conducted them.

Dear Parents, as you can see we have been extremely busy these last few days, turning students, learning new things, in order to guide your children better. We truly believe that ‘ONCE A TEACHER, ALWAYS A STUDENT’

Communication, collaboration & strong relationships create vital bridges between schools & families.

“There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home and the school that all the greatest virtues, the most dominating virtues of humans, are created, strengthened and maintained.” Said Winston Churchill

I am sure we all see the merit of what this means.

The class rooms may have changed for certain classes. Please check the lay out at the entrance. Bus children will be guided. On Monday please see that the children are in school by 8.25. If a little early, you would be able to avoid rush and confusion.

Please ensure proper turn out of your children with regular short hair cuts and no fancy shaved sides etc. We lay a lot of stress on that.

I was extremely glad to see that in the Feed Back form you all had appreciated our somewhat strict discipline policy and rated it ‘excellent’. That shows that somewhere we all agree for the need for certain dos and don’t s being followed in the school and life…

Kindly do visit our Fb(Facebook) page to see the action in school and outside ( Our very very thrilling NASA visit )
Do write in with any concerns or suggestions.

Warm Regards and all the best to another beginning.

Renu Shorey

Director, Suchitra Academy
